At OTWorld 2026, BionIT Labs returns to Leipzig with a new generation of solutions for upper limb prosthetics: Adam’s Hand Plus, PRISM and PULSE.
For CPOs and partners, these launches mark a concrete step toward a more integrated approach to adaptive grasping, myoelectric control, feedback and training.
Every edition of OTWorld is more than an international trade fair for BionIT Labs. In this context, technology meets people: users, CPOs, distributors, partners and professionals. Together, they share the same goal: improving the quality of life of people with limb differences through advanced, reliable and user-centered prosthetic solutions.
This year, BionIT Labs returned to Leipzig for OTWorld 2026, which took place from May 19 to 22 and marked the 50th edition of the event. At Hall 5, Stand F50, we presented the latest evolution of the Adam’s Hand ecosystem.
After our OTWorld 2024 experience, we returned with new training activities, accessories and meaningful connections with the international O&P community. Building on that path, OTWorld 2026 marks another important step forward. This time, the spotlight is on three innovations designed to work together within a more complete prosthetic ecosystem: Adam’s Hand Plus, PRISM and PULSE.
From Adam’s Hand to a complete prosthetic ecosystem
Adam’s Hand is BionIT Labs’ flagship product and one of the clearest expressions of the company’s mission. Built around its Fully Adaptive Grip Technology, it is designed to offer users a simple and intuitive experience, combining adaptive grasping, robustness and mechanical compliance to support daily and continuous use.
Through this user-centered approach, Adam’s Hand helps translate BionIT Labs’ vision into practice: improving the quality of life of people with limb differences by “Turning Disabilities into New Possibilities“.
Designed with an anthropomorphic approach, Adam’s Hand combines mechanical and artificial intelligence through an app-integrated algorithm. Together, these elements bring BionIT Labs’ patented Fully-Adaptive Grip Technology to life. This technology allows the fingers to adapt to the shape and size of objects, so users do not need to pre-select each grip pattern, supporting a more intuitive and natural experience in everyday activities.
At OTWorld 2026, BionIT Labs is taking this vision further.
The new solutions presented in Leipzig are part of a broader ecosystem. It integrates adaptive grasping, smart myocontrol, sensory feedback, training and clinical support. Designed to support both users and CPOs throughout the prosthetic journey, this integrated platform provides a more connected and intuitive experience through advanced technology built around reliable, user-centered design.
Adam’s Hand Plus: the evolution of adaptive grasping
One of the main highlights of OTWorld 2026 is Adam’s Hand Plus, the evolution of the original Adam’s Hand model.
Adam’s Hand Plus builds on BionIT Labs’ Fully Adaptive Grip Technology and introduces active thumb rotation. As a result, it expands functional versatility for upper-limb prosthesis users, with particular relevance for people with bilateral upper-limb amputations. Thumb abduction and adduction can now be managed in active or passive mode, supporting more intuitive transitions between daily tasks.
For users, this means a prosthetic hand designed to support easier and more natural use in everyday activities. For clinicians, it means a solution that expands the functional possibilities of the device while preserving the adaptive mechanism that has always defined Adam’s Hand.
Adam’s Hand Plus also introduces enhanced grip repeatability through motor syncing management and optimized thumb geometry. These features are designed to increase anthropomorphism, optimize the tripod grip and improve the line of sight for easier object manipulation.
PRISM: smart myocontrol through pattern recognition
Alongside Adam’s Hand Plus, BionIT Labs presented PRISM, the Pattern Recognition Interface for Smart Myocontrol.
PRISM is an advanced control system designed to control both Adam’s Hand and a wrist rotator using signals from up to four analogue EMG electrodes. Its purpose is to support a more natural, efficient and high-function control experience compared to traditional dual-site strategies.
This innovation is particularly relevant because control is one of the most important aspects of the user experience in upper limb prosthetics. A prosthetic hand can be mechanically advanced, but the way it is controlled determines how intuitive, responsive and usable it feels in daily life.
PRISM is designed with a streamlined setup using only four electrodes and a modular approach. In addition, the pattern recognition algorithm can adapt hand functioning to any number of electrodes, from one to four. This flexibility makes it a meaningful addition for professionals looking for adaptable control strategies that can be tailored to each individual user.
At OTWorld 2026, PRISM shows how BionIT Labs is expanding the Adam’s Hand ecosystem beyond the prosthetic hand itself, introducing a more advanced approach to myoelectric control.
PULSE: vibrotactile feedback for a more connected prosthetic experience
The third major innovation presented at OTWorld 2026 is PULSE, a vibration feedback system that provides localized vibrotactile feedback to the residual limb.
Feedback plays a crucial role in the relationship between user and prosthesis. While myoelectric control allows users to activate and manage prosthetic movements, sensory feedback can help create a more connected experience by giving the user additional information during interaction with the device.
PULSE is designed to support improved control and awareness, motor learning and a stronger sense of embodiment. In other words, it adds a feedback layer to the prosthetic experience, helping users engage with the device in a more informed and responsive way.
Within the Adam’s Hand ecosystem, PULSE represents an important step toward a more integrated human-machine interaction: not only controlling movement, but also receiving feedback from the system.
Product launch workshops with Giovanni Zappatore
The launch of these new technologies was also at the center of two dedicated exhibitor workshops led by Giovanni Zappatore, CEO and Founder of BionIT Labs.
The first workshop, “Think Less, Move More: Experience the Next Step in Prosthetic Innovation with Adam’s Hand Plus”, focused on the evolution of adaptive grasping and introduced Adam’s Hand Plus to the OTWorld audience.
This session offered clinicians, distributors and partners the opportunity to better understand how active thumb rotation expands the potential of Adam’s Hand, while preserving the user-centered design approach behind the product.
The second workshop, “Unlocking New Possibilities: Introducing BionIT Labs’ Brand-New Myoelectric Control and Feedback Systems”, focused on the new technologies supporting control and feedback within the Adam’s Hand ecosystem.
During this session, BionIT Labs introduced the role of PRISM and PULSE in shaping a more complete prosthetic experience: smart myocontrol through pattern recognition, and localized vibrotactile feedback to support awareness, learning and embodiment.
AI-driven training and professional education with Susanne Breier
Another key moment at OTWorld 2026 was the session by Susanne Breier, Senior Clinical Advisor at BionIT Labs, titled “Adaptive AI-Driven Home-Based Neuromuscular Training for Upper Limb Myoelectric Prosthesis Users”.
Presented at the OTWorld Innovation Forum Digital Manufacturing, the session addressed one of the most relevant topics in modern prosthetics. In particular, it explored how digital tools, artificial intelligence and home-based training can support users of upper limb myoelectric prostheses beyond the clinical environment.
The session focused on rehabilitation as an active and engaging process, highlighting Myo World, BionIT Labs’ gamified training experience designed for the Adam’s Hand ecosystem.
Myo World turns muscle training into an interactive challenge. Through muscle activation, users can control the Myo Striker, move across different worlds, collect power-ups and complete progressively more difficult tasks. The goal is to make training more engaging and motivating, while helping users practice control in different positions in space.
Users can also share their progress with their occupational therapist, receiving personalized suggestions to continue improving their training experience.
The Myo World Challenge: turning training into an experience
At the BionIT Labs booth, innovation was not only presented — it was experienced.
The Myo World Challenge brought energy, curiosity and interaction to the booth, turning muscle training into an engaging activity for visitors and professionals. Through this experience, participants had the chance to explore how digital tools can make training more interactive, measurable and motivating.
Instead of presenting training as a purely repetitive exercise, the Myo World Challenge showed how users can interact with muscle signals in a more dynamic and intuitive way.
For clinicians and CPOs, it was also an opportunity to see how gamified and challenge-based experiences can support education, confidence and engagement during the prosthetic training journey.
Most importantly, it created exactly the kind of moment we love at BionIT Labs. People gathered around technology, asked questions, tried something new and discovered how innovation can become more human when it is experienced directly.
