Evolving Our Identity: Engineering Human Potential

Reading Time: 5 minutes

For years, BionIT Labs has been primarily known for prosthetics and for Adam’s Hand.

That identity was accurate, but as our company evolved, it was no longer complete.

The new BionIT Labs identity is not a departure from our past, but an evolution of it: a clearer expression of where we started, what we have learned and where we are going.

Technology should adapt to people

Technology has always expanded human potential. Yet too often, it is still built around simplified models of human experience.

People are asked to adapt to interfaces that feel unnatural, systems that require unnecessary effort and machines that struggle with the complexity of the physical world.

In prosthetics, this creates a gap between intention and execution.

In robotics, it limits how machines learn from human experience and interact safely and reliably with the world around them.

At BionIT Labs, we believe technology should follow the opposite direction.

Instead of asking people to adapt to technology, we begin with human experience: how people naturally move, perceive, interact and adapt. We then translate the engineering principles behind that experience into technologies that make human potential tangible, accessible and transferable.

This is what we mean by Engineering Human Potential.

It is our new mission, but it is also the clearest expression of the work we have been doing since the beginning.

An evolution that started in prosthetics

When we founded BionIT Labs, we were trying to solve a very specific and deeply human problem: restoring a more natural connection between people with upper-limb differences and the technologies they use every day.

Prosthetics taught us that technical capability alone is not enough.

A system can have more motors, more functions and more degrees of freedom, but still fail to translate them into something that feels natural and useful. Real impact comes from understanding how people interact with the physical world and designing technology around that experience.

That lesson remains at the heart of BionIT Labs – what has changed is the scale of its application.

Today, we are extending the principles and technologies developed through prosthetics into robotics: in fact, prosthetics gave us a unique starting point for addressing broader challenges in human-machine interaction.

The work we do in the two domains is different, but it is guided by the same philosophy.

In prosthetics, we are Engineering for Human Potential: Turning Disabilities into New Possibilities.

In robotics, we are Engineering from Human Potential: Turning Human Experience into Robotic Intelligence.

Different applications. One philosophy.

Our Mission and our Vision

Our Mission is Engineering Human Potential.

It means understanding the principles behind human experience, translating them into engineering and embodying them in technologies that can create value across different domains.

Our Vision is a future in which technology enables the full expression of human potential, creating a more equitable and accessible world.

This future requires technologies that are not only more advanced, but also more human-centered, responsible and capable of interacting with the real world.

For us, expanding into robotics means applying what we have learned from people to build better technology – human experience remains the starting point.

One identity, two domain expressions

Our previous brand identity was strongly associated with prosthetics. This reflected the company we were at the time, but it could no longer represent the full architecture we are building.

The new brand is led by one master identity, BionIT Labs, with two clear domain expressions: BionIT Labs – Prosthetics and BionIT Labs – Robotics.

Each has its own technological commitment and visual language, while remaining part of the same system.

Blue represents Prosthetics, expressing human-centered care, accessibility and adaptability.

Teal represents Robotics, expressing precision, engineered performance and advanced technological capability.

A deep neutral tone brings balance and consistency to the entire identity.

This structure allows the two domains to evolve with clarity without separating them.

Prosthetics and Robotics are not independent businesses placed under the same name: they are two mutually reinforcing expressions of one long-term direction.

A new logo built from the original idea

Our original logo represented the meeting between the human being and the machine.

The human dimension was enclosed within a circle: organic, continuous and adaptable. The machine was framed within a square: structured, precise and engineered. At the center, the two figures converged.

We did not want to lose that meaning; instead, we simplified and strengthened it.

The new symbol transforms the original circle and square into a more minimal, balanced and future-oriented geometric system. Human and machine are no longer represented as two separate figures overlapping at the center, and their integration is embedded directly into the structure of the logo.

The symbol can also be perceived as the profile of a hand or a robotic gripper, creating a subtle connection with our work in human and robotic manipulation.

This evolution does not redefine who we are: it clarifies and scales what we have already built.

Innovation with purpose

Our identity also needed to express not only what we build, but how we build it.

BionIT Labs combines two complementary dimensions.

The first is care: the responsibility to place people, ethics and real-world impact at the center of every solution.

The second is innovation: the ambition to challenge existing assumptions, advance engineering and build technologies that did not exist before.

Innovation does not replace care. It scales it.

Also our principles evolved, and now translate into four practical commitments that guide our daily work:

01 - HUMAN-CENTERED RESPONSIBILITY

Where We Start

We begin with human experience, ensuring that technology is designed around people rather than asking people to adapt.

«START FROM PEOPLE»

02 - CHALLENGING THE PROBLEM

How We Think

We question assumptions before pursuing solutions, because meaningful innovation begins by asking better questions.

«RETHINK IT»

03 - ENGINEERING WITH PURPOSE

How We Build

We transform understanding into engineering, delivering reliable solutions with real-world impact.

«MAKE IT REAL»

04 - RADICAL INNOVATION

What We Create

We pursue fundamental advances by applying the same engineering principles across different domains.

«GO BEYOND»

They are not only brand values – they are linked to operating principles for the decisions we make, the products we develop and the company we want to become.

What changes, and what remains

Our logo is evolving, together with our visual system, and the scope of our brand is expanding. But our foundation remains the same.

We still believe that technology should be designed around people. We still believe that engineering should create tangible improvements in everyday life, and we remain fully committed to advancing prosthetic technology and improving the autonomy, confidence and quality of life of the people who rely on it.

Prosthetics is not a chapter we are leaving behind: it is where we began, where we continue to create impact and where we learned principles that can now shape a broader generation of embodied technologies.

Today, our identity is finally able to express that complete story.

This is the evolution of BionIT Labs.

This is Engineering Human Potential.
